The Trigger:

I’ve had an on-again-off-again relationship with fitness for the past few years. Some years, I’d be really motivated (like when I was preparing for my wedding in 2015), but without fail, that motivation would always taper off eventually. There was nothing to make it “stick”. My father had a severe heart attack in April 2017, and while he thankfully survived, it really pushed me to take an uncomfortable look at my own health – especially since I was starting to see some of the warning symptoms he experienced at my age. A health screening confirmed my fears. I knew I needed to make a change before things escalated in the way they did with my dad. And I knew, this time, I had to commit for life.

The Change:

One of the biggest reasons I’d lose motivation was because I would get bored. I’ve jumped from various big box gyms, to ClassPass, to cycle and/or pilates-focused fitness centers, to group fitness boutiques… but while that would peak my interest for awhile, there was always something missing. I wanted to work out on my own schedule. I wanted someone to tell me what to do. I didn’t want to think or plan. I wanted structure, but also an ever-evolving, dynamic, and personalized work-out. And I didn’t want to have to pay a personal trainer every time I went to the gym. Was it too much to ask?! Fitbod was the 4th fitness app I decided to try out, and it changed my life. There are still some changes I’m hoping for in future updates, but for the most part, Fitbod has everything I’ve asked for. I love that I can customize everything: my fitness goals, my reps/weights, my available equipment, training splits, workout duration, cardio recommendations, and excluded exercises. It truly keeps things fresh, challenges me, grows with me, and keeps me committed!

Results:

Since I’m more motivated and focused on my fitness, I’ve definitely noticed myself making better changes in my life. I’m more mindful on what I eat and choosing healthier food alternatives. In fact, I just completed a 2-week trial of vegetarianism and plan to do it again for a month. The gym has also become such a HUGE priority in my daily schedule. I will plan my days around the gym just to make sure I get my work-out in! These are all things I would’ve never dreamed of doing prior to finding Fitbod and this newfound commitment to fitness.

C4 Ripped Pre-Workout has also played a huge role in my success. It’s the fuel I need to get through Fitbod’s intense routines!

Advice for others:

Don’t pay too much attention to the scale. So many people are obsessed with that number on the scale and become discouraged when it isn’t changing. Sadly, that single measurement has caused people to quit completely! While losing weight is a positive result of working out, it isn’t the only result. Take progress photos. Measure around your hips, waist, biceps, and other areas of your body. Notice your increase in energy and strength. Keep track of your progress in other ways. Remember that being healthy and fit is not a temporary phase; it’s a lifestyle.
