Partner Wheelbarrow Walk is a compound, bodyweight exercise that primarily targets the shoulders and core. By having one partner hold the other partner’s feet while they walk on their hands, you add an element of balance and coordination. This is a great exercise for building upper body strength and improving teamwork. The partner aspect makes it a fun and challenging addition to any workout.
Partner 1: Position yourself on the ground in a high-plank or pushup position with your hands under your shoulders and your arms straight with a slight bend in your elbow.
Partner 2: Stand just behind your partner’s feet.
Partner 1: Raise one leg up at a time, allowing your partner to grab each leg at the ankle.
Partner 2: Grab your partner’s ankles and hold them in front of you at waist height. Make any adjustments needed for height.
Partner 1: With both of your legs held by your partner, keep your core engaged, back straight, and legs active.
Partner 1: Shift your weight to one hand, and lift your opposite hand off the ground.
Partner 1: With support from your partner, start walking forward on your hands. Go one hand print at a time.
Partner 2: Match your partner’s pace, as they walk forward on their hands. Maintain a tight grasp on their ankles.
Partner 1: Continue alternating as you head toward whatever finish line you’ve chosen for this exercise.
Switch positions with your partner and repeat.
